Thesis: The wanderer is exiled after a battle, which killed everyone including the king he followed.

Order of development
1) After being exiled he travels looking for someone new to follow but since he didn’t die next to his king in battle he is considered a coward to all. (A man who lacks advice for a long while from his lord and friend lives thus in his loneliness.)

Essay

Swords clashing with great force against the (gold one), when I awoke I was the only man left standing dismissed to eternal loneliness. As I journeyed the land no one would accept me thinking I abandoned the gold one in his time of need, will I never again serve someone for free. The only thing I hear is the quite ocean and the breeze. I ponder each day will I be the wandering the world for the rest of my life I will be alone and never have a wife? Like Grendel I am cast as an outsider from society no one understands me. I could be killed any day like Beowulf killing this creature without any dismay. No one listens, I will walk the land because of what people thought was my decision.

Fit 1-2 Sir Gawain and the green knight

1)Games-singing and dancing with king arthur, guessing what is in the presents they give each other everyone is happy and the room is filled with joy also had tournament sports like jousting. King Arthur is demanding and wants to hear a story before he eats.

In the other castle everyone is calm and talking loud music is playing with trumpets, drums, and pipes (flutes).

2)decorations-Guinevere has silk curtains, the king from the magic castle has silk curtains as well.

3)attitudes- everyone is happy and filled with joy when the celebration is going on at king Arthur's. In the other castle the room is filled with happiness and jubilation.

Themes

Role of kings- King Hrolf is a good example of a noble king because he shares his treasure with his people, a bad example of a king would be King Frodi because he is greedy and doesn't help anyone in his kingdom people are starving and he only cares about money. A king is suppose to encourage his champions and share his wealth with his followers.

Hrolf Kraki characters

Half Dane-Brother of Frodi, father of Signy, Helgi, and Frodi.he is killed by his brother.
Frodi-A Greedy king who doesnt share is wealth with his people, kills his brother Half Dane.

Helgi-Is the son of Halfdane, He hides for a long time to stay away from Frodi, then becomes a king and wants to sleep with Olof,But ends up raping her she later wants revenge and gets him to marry his daughter. Then he has a kid with an elf and doesn’t hold up to his end of the bargain so he is cursed.

Hroar-Another son of Halfdane, helps his brother kill Frodi and take over Denmark. Marries Ogn and moves to England. He has a ring that Hrok wants so he lets him look at it, then Hrok throws his ring into the sea He ends up cutting his foot off . Hrok kills him for revenge.

Signy-daughter of Halfdane, Jarl Saevil's wife, recognizes Hroar and Helgi, mother of Hrok.

Regin- foster father of Hroar and Helgi, they get help from him when they kill Frodi.

Vifil- uses magic to hide Helgi and Hroar, lives on an island.

Olaf-Queen fo Saxland, mother of Yrsa, tells the couple Yrsa and Helgi that they are father and daughter for revenge for being raped.

Yrsa- Daughter of Olof and Helgi, marries her father,then later leaves him, gives Hrolf Helgi's treasure.

Hrok- Son of Saevil and Signy, wants a ring from Helgi, asks to look at the ring,and then throws the ring into the ocean, Hroar then cuts his feet off, as revenge he kills Hroar.

Adils-The king of Sweden married Yrsa, and helps Hrok kill Helgi.

Skuld-Helgi's half-elf daughter,Hrolf's half sister, marries Hjorvard.

Berserkers-Are less intelligent than champions but more then ready to die in battle they also think they're the best.

Svipdag-Svip's son, becomes an amazing warrior, works for Adils and then Hrolf.

Svip- A swedish farmer, father of Svipdag, Beygad, and Hvitserk, has a dream and sends the brothers to help Svipdag, tells his sons about Hrolf and how he's an honorable king because he gives back to his people.

Bjalki-one of Hrolfs champions.

Bera- In love with Bjorn, eats the bear meat, even though Bjorn tells her not to no matter what gets the ring, has three strong sons (Elk Frodi, Bodvar, and .

bjorn-King Hrings Son who is cursed by Hvit he would'nt sleep with her. Turned in to a bear during the day is killed by the kings men. Has three kids and warns his wife not to eat the bear meat.

Bodvar Bjarki- son of Bera, the normal looking one who later is one of hrolf's champions.

Drifa-King Hrolf's daughter.

Elk-frodi- Son of Bera, Half elk half human, extremley strong.

Hjalti-After bodvar slays a troll he brings the body up to the castle so it would look like Hott/Hjalti slayed the beast.

Hott-Hott is a weakling/coward in the eyes hrolf's champions.

books 1-4

In Book one- Athena comes down to help Telemachus and she is assuming the role of odysseus old friend. She tells him to mente's Telemachus that Odysseus will return to Ithica soon, and that he should tell all suitors that they are banished. When he tells the suitors this two Antinous, and Eurymachos both ask him who the vistor was and he reply's even though he thought there was a godlike being there he said his fathers old friend.

Book two- Telemachus meets infront of an assembly of men and tells them that the suitors and the people he is talking to, have no respect for what his father has done. They eat all the sheep, and any other food. Telemachus decides to find a crew and leave to find his father Athena disguises as a man named mentor, another old friend of odysseus. He tells just about no one that he is leaving, except for Eurycleia a nurse who tries to talk him out of it, but he goes anyway.

Book three- When they get to Pylos mentor convinces Telemachus to talk to nestor the king of Pylos about his father. He unfortunetly doesn't have any information about him. But Nestor tells him to go to sparta to talk to Menelaus.

Book four- Telemachus arrives in Sparta and he talks to Menelaus and he talks about Calypso and how Ulysses is trapped on her island. And the suitors are planing to kill Telemachus when they head back to Ithica.

The meaning of the monster

I think the bank represents a monster because a person wouldn't let another person go hungry if they had extra food and the bank is taking everything away from this family. And not giving them anything in return after they gave them money for generations. The bank just wants to make more money if it isn't constantly making money it dies (shuts down) so they could care less about a family. A monster is someone or somthing that does cruel things intentionally and that is what the bank is doing intentionally throwing a family in the cold to fend for themselves.

meaning of the turtle

I think the turtle in chapter four represents joads journey after he leaves prison only he knows were he is going and he wont stop until he gets there. when a person picks up the turtle it could mean that tom will be picked up by the cops for jumping states on probation.

Jim- Is a preacher who does some questionable things, but he feels lost and says he loves people not jesus.

Tom- Farmer's son, been in prison for killing someone in self defense. After prison he is headed back to his family business. (on probation) easily to anger.

grapes of wrath

In chapters 1-2 the story introduces Joad who hitch hiked a ride and later reveals that he was in jail for a homicide. The truck driver giving him a ride was very nosey so Joad just told him. Joad was sentenced to seven years but since he had good behavior he got out in four.
